Driver-less Car at Research@Intel Day 2007

The storysharing team is moving from Intel International Science and Engineering Fair to the big leagues. Research@Intel Day is the annual science fair for Intel employees and friends. This is where researchers come together to show how they’re pulling up the horizon, making things happen now so that future computer and software can harness the every improving compute power that will be packed into future Intel chips.

Intel’s Research team members are sharing some stories on the Research@Intel blog and find stories and materials here.

Here is a photo from last year’s event. This driver-less VW wagon it tricked out with Intel technology that helps it sense the terrain and drive remotely. It went on to win the 2007 DARPA Grand Challenge.  Here’s a video of the car when it was at the Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco, September 2007.
